HOW MEO SUDOESTE CELEBRATED THEIR 25TH ANNIVERSARY
MEO Sudoeste turned 25 years of age in 2023 and Atelier Impresa began preparing the party months before the festival, with a schedule full of new features.
In a special year, celebrating the occasion through the voices of the people entrusted with organising MEO Sudoeste every year was of paramount importance. We decided on the videocast format which, in five daily episodes – aired on the SIC website on the mornings of 5 to 9 August, as if it were a countdown –, invited performers and the people behind the scenes to take part. In a relaxed tone, Inês Abrantes, the presenter of the programme “Curto-Circuito”, chatted to Luís Montez, Miguel Guerra, Papillon and Mizzy Miles, among others, who shared their opinions, the adventures they had experienced at the festival and behind-the-scenes stories. The episodes were highlighted on the channel’s social networks and in a half-page media campaign with a direct link to the episodes.
During the festival, and in an innovative approach, Atelier Impresa created four special “Golden Moments” mini-content slots at the venue itself. Over the four days, with a view to celebrating the 25 editions of the event, the Atelier resident team selected 25 “golden moments” to illustrate the way in which the “tribe” had experienced the festival. These four programmes were broadcast on television – on SIC, SIC Radical and SIC Notícias – between 9 and 12 of August, and highlighted on the social networks of said channels. The four mini-content slots, compiled into a single programme, were published in an article on the SIC website and the SIC Instagram page on 14 August.
MEO Sudoeste is one of the biggest summer festivals in Portugal and has brought thousands of young people together in a vibe consisting of a combination of bands, friends, the beach and campsites. A “tribe” that partied to the sound of performers such as David Guetta, Hardwell, Steve Aoki and Xutos & Pontapés at this 2023 edition. In an item broadcast on 13 August, “Fama Show” repeated this year’s line-up to show how the festival-goers enjoyed the atmosphere at the venue. On the same day, a “best of” broadcast on SIC, SIC Radical and SIC Notícias and on their social media showed the highlights of the event in a farewell to a historic edition.
